We need to recognize that our 'crime problems' are independent from what we primarily criminalize / prosecute. I feel we need focus our enforcement efforts on bolstering goodwill safety & justice preserving duties rather than on buying more military-grade equipments to prolong a misguided war on poor communities we wage at the moment on behalf of a monitized establishment. Our 'justice' system, as it stands, doles out more violence / creates more injustice than it prevents & needs to be fundamentally reformed with public review. Go harder on corporate/systematic crimes while going softer on individual petty/victimless crimes. We can transform a portion of the ex-city jail into a public law education / training center to create a diverse healthy supply of top-tier public defenders. Prison-labor is slave labor. Voting rights for the incarcerated!
We must recognise drug use isn't a criminal offense-it is a matter of health. legalized cannabis is safe & many priorly / currently incarcerated people have unjustly been stripped of their liberty to maintain the federal governments failed war on drugs(poverty). Free the people and let them take part in reparative capitalism by giving them 1st class access and resources to be legitimate wheelers & or dealers. We can uplift our peoples for a change this way.
